Port Authority at the Paraná State, Portos do Paraná, clarifies that bidding process for rock dredging contract, in order to partially remove rocky formation, known as “Pedra da Palangana” has not been concluded yet and it still has to pass through legal proceedings. Once hiring is concluded, contractor will still have a period to develops its Method Statement . Entire hiring process demands legal timing and should be done under planning, with no damage to the normal and regular traffic of Paraná Ports.

WHAT IS IT: This service is considered essential to provide depths safer to the navigation. Six rocky bodies masses will be removed, that summed, represents 22.3 thousand cubic meters. Initial studies shows that smallest section is 361 cubic meters and the biggest one has 8 thousand cubic meters. These rocky bodies are part of a formation known as “Pedra da Palangana” (Palangana Rock), that integrally has more than 200 thousand cubic meters, located at the bottom of main access channel of Paranagua Port.
