Communication campaign values artisanal fishing on the Paraná State Coast 22/01/2021 - 14:45

Artisanal fishing, which guarantees income for about 6 thousand families on the coast of Paraná, is the theme of the new environmental education campaign of Portos do Paraná. The public company promotes actions of communication and valorization of the activity, taking advantage of the increase in the number of vacationers on the beaches of the State.

The objective is to encourage the consumption of fish such as sea bass, croaker, hake and sole. “They are extremely tasty and very high quality fish. Our fishermen bring fresh fish, every day, and they are excellent options in place of tilapia, raised in captivity, or even salmon, which comes from outside the country. ”, highlights the Environment Director, João Paulo Santana.

In addition, he adds, buying from artisanal fishermen is a way to help families that suffer the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. “We want tourists and residents of Paranaguá and the region to understand the importance of honoring these workers. It is a way of leveraging the local microeconomies, mainly of artisanal fishermen and caiçaras”, adds Santana.

PROGRAM - The campaign is part of the Environmental Education and Social Communication programs of Portos do Paraná, conditions listed in the operation license of the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina, granted by Ibama - Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources.

The action also meets the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established by the United Nations (UN) in 2015, and of which Portos do Paraná is a signatory.

The campaign fits into the 14th objective: "to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development".
